WHATS NEW?
An Evening of Elegance
Our Club held its "An Evening of Elegance!"  fund raising event on February 23 at The Woodlands Marriott.  As part of the event, we honored Michael and Vicki Richmond for their major contributions to our community throughout the past 35 plus years.

All proceeds benefited the Rotary House. Rotary House is a Non Profit focused on providing  patients from any of our five area Woodlands Hospitals a secure and affordable place to stay while seeking treatments. The Event netted $190,000  for this great cause. Once again, we wish to thank all of our Sponsors for helping to make this event such a big success.

The College Park Interact Club Newsletter
Interact Newsletter-The College Park Interact Club Has Been Very Active. Read More from Katie Zane about their activities
November 1st - The Woodlands College Park Interact worked with staff members at the Hailey Glow Run on the Knox Junior High track.  The volunteers help set up the event, cheer for runners, make snow cones, and pack up the event.

November 5th - Before Thanksgiving, we hosted the annual Potluck event for our members where we feasted on delicious food and shared what they were thankful for.  Here at College Park, Interact is not just a club, but a family.  As board members, we always try to instill in future members the same love for community service that we have gained over the past few years.

November 10th (9:30 am - 5:00 pm) and 11th (11:30 am - 5:00 pm) - The College Park Interact Club had an amazing turn out at the Children’s Festival where they worked with children on face paint, crafts, and games.  One thing the club did not expect was the near 30-degree weather all day long, and like the troopers (and Texans) we are, all the volunteers came with eager faces and endless layers of clothing.

November 10th (8:30 - 11:30 am) and 11th (11:30 am - 2:30 pm) - U.S. Masters Swimming at CISD Natatorium 8:30-11:30 and 11:30-2:30 The College Park Interact members worked as timers for the U.S. Master Swimming meet at the CISD Natatorium.  Not only did the volunteers have a lot of fun while volunteering, but they also were able to meet Graham Johnston, a swimmer who participated in the 1952 Summer Olympics.

November 30th - Near the end of November, the College Park Best Buddies asked Interact to help them set up the Best Buddies Variety Show from 4:30 - 7:00 pm at the College Park High School Auditorium.  Along with the variety show, there will be a silent auction which the Interact Club will oversee so the Best Buddies Club can raise enough money to fund a dance for students from our Special Education Department at College Park High School.

December 1st - From 8:00 - 10:00 am, the College Park Interact club will be serving food to the families with children who attend Glen Loch Elementary for the Glen Loch Holiday Breakfast.

December 2nd - John Cooper Holiday Party is from 12:30 - 3:30 pm on December 2nd.  The Interact clubs from John Cooper School, The Woodlands High School, and College Park High School will work together to provide a Christmas meal to local members of the elderly community.  The College Park Interact club intends to spread love and the holiday spirit.

December 6th - From 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Sally K. Ride Elementary, the College Park Interact Club is volunteering at the school’s Story Time with Santa event.  Here we will conduct crafts, holiday games, ornament painting, and more.

December 8th - At Town Green Park from 9:30 am - 2:00 pm, College Park Interact will volunteer at the Human Rights Walk.  The members will be working at events such as the rock wall, arts & crafts, face painting, and bounce houses.

December 10th - In order to celebrate our commitment to the club and working members, we are hosting the Interact Holiday Party where we will skate our hearts away at the Woodlands Ice Rink.  There, we will name the Student of the Semester for their enthusiasm, spirit, and commitment when volunteering.

Over this first semester, the entire club together has amassed nearly 2,546 hours of community service.

Rotary  House Is Making An Impact!

We are pleased to announce that our apartments are fully occupied with a waiting List. Over the last several months we have been 80% occupied. We are extremely excited to see so much interest in such  a short of time. To date, we have provided 204 days of lodging to patients undergoing extended treatment and their families at our Medical Center, This  represents over $30,000 in direct benefits to these patients and families. Our patients have included 9 infants and children plus two adult cancer patients. These patients have come from as far away as St Augustine, Fla.  and as near as Huntsville, Texas. We are currently evaluating our funding strategy to see if we can add a third apartment. What do you think?

We are also excited to announce our new web site where you can learn more www.rotaryhousetw.org

The Hospitality Committee could use more people to check in on our families and make sure they get the support they need to continue caring for their babies.  If you are interested in doing this and/or have an idea, contact Jon Sanderson at jon.sanderson@primelending.com.
