SAVE THE DATE—EVENING OF ELEGANCE FUND RAISER FEBRUARY 29, 2020

Rotary Club of The Woodlands’ annual fundraising gala, An Evening of Elegance, will be held February 29, 2020 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott. The event will honor George Lindahl, III with the Legendary Service Award for his work both in the community and through mission work internationally. Mary and Norman Parrish will serve as co-chairs of the event.

Rotary Board member, Tom Cox, Jr. nominated Mr. Lindahl for the honor. “George Lindahl personifies a servant leader. He selflessly lends himself to worthwhile causes and seeks nothing in return. He simply identifies need, brings the community together and impacts real change. He has quietly done so much for so many. George is certainly worthy of this recognition and I am excited to see him honored by our community,” said Cox.

Lindahl’s career in oil and gas spans 45 years, capping his career as CEO/President of Union Pacific Resources (a Fortune 500 Company) and as Vice-Chairman of Anadarko Petroleum from 2000-2003. He currently works full time as a volunteer for numerous nonprofit charities. His goal through service and financial investments is to make “transformational change.” He and his wife, Kristi, live in The Woodlands.

Trip to Caborca, Mexico --Global Grant for Neonatal Equipment
We will be participating in a trip to Caborca, Mexico to support the Global Grant for Neonatal Equipment. Our club has contributed $1000 towards the project which has also been supported by clubs from Louisiana, Arizona and California. During our time in Mexico we will have several fellowship events with the local Caborca Rotarians and their families.

During the 2-night stay in Caborca, Mexico (February 14th-February 16th)  we will stay at a hotel in the town for $50-60/person/night. On Saturday we will visit a local ejido (neighborhood) to provide polio drops (vaccination) to local children with the support of local government healthcare workers. There is an additional $175/person cost that includes the bus shuttle fee and all costs for meals and events in Mexico. The check payment for the $175 will need to be collected to confirm the attendance.

We will leave from Buckeye, Arizona on Friday afternoon (February 14th) via shuttle bus by 1pm. Buckeye is 40 miles west of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.  We will be joining fellow Rotarians and some non-Rotarians (family or friend guests of Rotarians) from California and Arizona. We will commute via bus to Caborca, Mexico (about 215 miles). The best idea is to plan to arrive in Phoenix by Thursday, February 13th to prevent any travel issues.

We will return to Buckeye, Arizona by Sunday (February 16th) at around 1-2pm.

***We still have 1 bus seat available!  We can also create a waiting list if any of the current guests have to cancel.
***Passport will be required during stop at Mexican border.

If a Rotarian is interested please contact me directly.
